My Top Show Tunes

I love posts like this because I like finding out what songs people listen to the most and what they enjoy. So today, I'm going to share with you my favourite show tunes! In this post I am only going to include theatre and not films as I'm going to do a separate post on my top movie musicals. These songs are not in any particular order because I could not possibly rank these songs against each other!I am also going to keep it to one song per musical, which is going to be very hard!

Another Suitcase In another Hall- Evita:
I recently saw the UK tour of Evita and I loved it! I had listened to 'Another Suitcase in another hall' before but I'll be honest, I did not know that it was from Evita! So, as you can imagine, I was nicely surprised to find that this song was in it! I love it because it's such a relaxed song. Although sad, it's very chilled. My favourite performance that I have seen is by Samantha Barks.

Waving Through a Window- Dear Evan Hansen:
I feel like I'm going to get called 'basic' and a fake fan for saying this! For goodness sake, call me those things, I will always love Dear Evan Hansen! I think Waving Through a Window is an amazing song. In fact all the songs in Dear Evan Hansen are such good songs and I think this is because the songs are so well placed in the musical. For me, although it is a musical, it feels more like a play with songs. Waving Through a Window comes near the start of the show and allows the audience to get know Evan a in a little bit more depth. Also, all of the cast are featured in the song and the choreography is so well thought out.

Bright New Day- Blood Brothers:
Blood Brothers is such a fantastic show with so many fantastic songs! This was the show that really got me into musicals. It's such an amazing show and one that I've seen many times! And I'm sure many others have as well! Bright New Day comes at the end of the second act when Mrs Johnstone finds out she is moving to another house but this time it's in the countryside! It's such an uplifting song and I absolutely love seeing it performed live on stage! It's a very different song to the rest of the songs in the musical and I like it for that. Although every song in Blood Brothers is amazing!

No One Mourns The Wicked- Wicked:
Yep, you're right, a song from Wicked that isn't Defying Gravity is my favourite. No One Mourns the Wicked comes right at the very start of the musical and is when the audience meet Galinda the Good for the first time. I think one of the main reasons I like this song so much is because I love songs that are quite high pitched! I love the character of Galinda. Maybe it's because she tries so hard to be perfect yet she's not and I think we all need to learn that no matter how hard we try, we are not perfect.

38 Planes (Reprise)/Somewhere In The Middle of Nowhere- Come From Away
I think Come From Away is absolutely bloody brilliant! First of all it's a show and there's no interval! It runs straight through for 1 hour 40 mins! The musical about the airport and people of Newfoundland that had to take in aeroplanes when the American airspace shut due to 9/11. You may think this is rather depressing but it's one of the most uplifting things I have ever listened to! I cannot wait for it to come to London. All of the characters are based on real people on Newfoundland. The whole thing is so inspiring because all the people of Newfoundland rallied together to help all the people on the planes. The song I have picked as my favourite is 38 Planes/Somewhere In The Middle of Nowhere. I think this is such a great song as there are so many different aspects to it. I love Jenn Colella's parts in it!

Company- Company
Company is such a good show! Especially the Neil Patrick Harris production. Also, there is a production of Company opening in the West End but in this vision, Bobby is going to be Bobbi (a female)! Company is the opening number of the show! I can't really explain why I like it to be quite honest! I think it's because all the characters in the musical are in it. There are different layers to the song.

I'm going to leave this list here because otherwise I'm going to be here all day! I may do a part 2 of this list. I also have a few other ideas for song posts!
